Rhona McComiskie
Development Worker
Originally from Stirling, Rhona left home at the end of S5 to study an MA English Literature & Language at The University of Aberdeen. Four years later, and having loved every minute of it, Rhona had also enjoyed her vacation work with the local council summer play scheme which had inspired her to work with children or young people.
Following graduation Rhona took up her first post as a Youth Worker supporting youth groups across Aberdeen City which confirmed her commitment to working with teenagers and influenced her decision to study a Postgraduate Diploma in Careers Advice & Guidance at Napier University in 1998.
Now with ten years experience in the field of career guidance Rhona has worked on a variety of projects and with a huge range of school and post school clients helping them to develop their awareness of education, training and employment opportunities and make informed decisions about their future career paths. She has also worked as a University Careers Adviser which has given her a first hand understanding of some of the concerns new students have as well as the amazing opportunities they progress to.
Rhona hopes to put her professional and personal experiences to good use in her role as Development Worker to encourage young people to widen their horizons and to help them prepare for a future where they can enjoy the benefits of learning as much as she has.
